In Chapter 4, the main topic is Dol party, the first birthday celebrated in Korea. It covers Korean culture, so it is suitable for the course goals as well as the communication skills.
② Since the students needs and interests are different, the textbook can’t cover all although it has lots of
language due to poor teaching methods and customs which are based on strict educational tradition and has been passed down for decades. While such methods may have its strengths, in many cases it is no-longer considered efficient teaching methods, for the most part, due to the fact that most Korean English teachers over-emphasize the importance of reading and grammar skills while underestimating
language use in real life of students. Thus, functional expressions include such that will train students to communicate their meanings and respond in L2. For this purpose, functional lessons focus on listening and speaking skills—oral communication. In lessons 1 and 2, students will be engaged in comprehension activities as well as communicative interaction with fellow students in order to
